Hi all

what is the largest van tyre that will safely fit on the standard steel rim

idea of reducing revs at motorway speeds, will most prob just change the the rears

cheers for any info

195/80/14 fits without issues ...driving around with them for two years now. Speedo is 100% exact now.

Some people have fitted 205/80/14 on the standard narrow 5.5" rims. VW fitted that size on some Syncros, but they did it on a wider 6" rim ..I guess they did so for a reason as even the 195's bulge quite a bit over the rim (see garage for pics) ...205 might be a step too far.
