hi, ive just got my t25 and had two trips so far, and just arrived at a campsite
after 5hrs of driving, half of which i had the 12v
switch on for. Now when i put a light on the
lesiure battery drops into the red on the zig unit. i did notice this on my last trip, but thought it would charge on my next
trip. im now thinking the battery has not been
charging since ive had it and ive now depleated it.
Am i missing something thats should be done to charge
the lesuire battery? looking for you expert advice for a newbie

get a volt meter across the battery , check it , then check it with the engine running
could be the split charge relay or the fuse
does the ziggy charge when hooked up ?

which zig unit is it ?
the one i had you had to switch it on to charge the leisure , i think there's a downloadable manual on the main site or wiki

The leisure battery charges via a relay and this is usually connected to the alternator circuit or the ignition circuit on some models. Alternatively, some UK conversions require you to operate a switch mounted on a control panel marked 'Touring' - 'On-site' (or similar). If you have a ZIG panel then check for this switch. There is also the possibility that a fuse has blown in the charge circuit.

1. Relays and fuses are usually sited close to the battery so check the area, if you find two relays then one is for the 12V fridge operation.

2. Check the control panel, if yours is a ZIG the select touring when driving.

3. Switcvh on the engine and measure the voltage across the leisure battery, if it reads 13.5V or higher then the leisure battery is charging but not holding it so may need renewal.

To monitor both batts, you just add a double pole switch so you can flick to either battery for the present reading when you're stationary or on the move. Works extremely well and lets you know at a glance that a) you're charging b) what state each battery is in. Theres a whole range of chinese made LCD meters now that take up no space and are really easy to fit. Hope that helps.
