Odd question really
Hopefully the person who is employed to tune your carb(s) will know the answer
If he doesn't then don't let him near your engine
Adjusting mixture screws is not rocket science anyway, you can tell what is happening as you move the screw in or out. The trick is to make a note of where they are before moving the, so you can put them back where they were if you mess up !

For fuel... Out richer, In leaner.

No problem anyway. My carbs are bust, and this screw didn't make any difference which way you turned it.
Fuel mixture too rich! He said won't pass mot as emmissions sky high. doesn't know how passed last time.
He adjusted timing /tickover (?), so won't cut out as easily when at stand still.
My auto choke is working.
Basically it is still going - but not efficiently, and may not start until fuel evaporated. Fuel still leaks into right carb when ignition turn off. And prob will fail MOT in Feb 10.
He reckons I need new carbs. Recommended Webers, but doesn't think you can get them any more. Said I should try user groups.
Any suggestions!?!?

You should have no problem getting your carbs reconditioned / repaired.
Not sure around your neck of the woods but up here in the N.W, Steve Gasure (see link in my sig) will likely do it.
You will still need to get them setup on the van and for this a local specialist is best.
Someone will be along soon to suggest a place near to you

Hi,
Recently rebuilt mine with all new gaskets and float valves etc. The bus is a joy to drive now. More responsive......well in a fashion
Na being serious get a rebuild kit and try that. I had very very vaery little play in the spindles....Dont forget to renew the petrol hoses and the `T` piece aswell.
Glenn.

As a general rule, to set mixture without test gear, make sure engine is warm and choke off, increase idling speed a bit first then wind mixture screw in until the revs just begin to drop, wind out till speed rises again, then further 1/4 to 1/2 turn out. Reset idling speed. Emissions won't be far off done this way either if engine in reasonably good shape.

Might be worth ringing Steve up at Gasure and asking him.
You could box them up and send them to him to do.

Hi, have contacted gasure, but they say the don't do postal service. Just drive in drive out. Maybe they have changed lately?
I have found a local though...
southern carbeurettors
So hopefully they can do the job. I can then do the whole drive in drive out thing. Will call them tomorrow
