12v shouldn't matter which way round you wire it as it's a 12v heating element... as for the 240v I couldn't say....

The 240v mains flex from the fridge usually has a 13A plugtop on it and it is plugged into a socket that is wired directly into a circuit breaker in the consumer unit.

The 12v connections are positive and negative; the positive side should go to the switch.

hi im taurus... when u plug your fridge into the 240 mains in the house you should get heat coming out of the
top exhaust after a few mins. this is the heating element working ... if this dosent happen then your heater
element on the 240 side is gone.. if youve got an avo then u can go across the heater element and u should get
a resistance , sorry i dont know off hand how many ohms it should be, but if your really stuck i could find out
for u tommorow, i will check mine as i know its ok
