having found out last week my fuel guage is more of a rough guide than concrete proof of amount of fuel left, the speedo packed up in the rain yesterday(and the wipers but thats another story) he only things left working are an oil light that comes on and off as it pleases, and a battery light that flickers at idle!!! not much point in me having a dash really.

those warning lamps are telling you stuff you need to address
the fuel tank sender is like that, live with it by noting your mileage at each fill up
speedo cables are available from gsf, but see that it is broken first and hasn't just popped out of the back of the speedo. Or at the other end hasn't lost the little circlip keeping it in.
oil lights are telling you that there is either a problem with your oil pump, or more likely the sender is packing up and maybe your oil needs changing.
flickering batt light is a sure sign of brush wear or loose belt and to a lesser degree alternator failure.
