Parcel shelf bed

Just a quick post to give a quick cheer and thank you to the inventors of the parcel shelf bed - we have just had a two week trip with our two-year-old daughter, and it was great!
We were never really happy with the idea of a cab bunk for her as she's still a bit small for climbing in and out - once I saw the parcel shelf bed idea I built one from scratch, and at the same time changed our bed from 3/4 to full width. I made it to take a cushion the same size as her cot bed so we can use the same sheets etc.
She loved having her own bunk bed, and we loved having her close to us once we were all in, but not actually in our bed and kicking us about etc. About 8.30 she would wake up, say "morning" and then slide out and snuggle in with us for a half hour snooze - perfect!

Sounds like a great thing, can anyone point in the direction of a post, maybe it could be added tio the Wiki ?

Thanks

You are welcome :D

Ours is still going strong and on child no 2 - with no 1 happily in the roof bed. Just had a weekend at a festival - both of them asleep by 8pm (and we were in the arena - two tents from the drummers....!)
From my original post - in response to one about hammocks....

Finally I have some more pics done of the Parcel Shelf bed.

See the following

http://www.flickr.com/photos/15533407@N ... 979456859/

The ply was an offcut from B&Q with a couple of bits of gash timber round the edges for strengthening.
Cot mattress used and cut down to fit.

It rests on the Parcel Shelf rests supplied in the conversion.
We can't open the wardrobe with the mattress on (but there is an LPG tank in there anyway!).

Lobster netting came from http://allplas.co.uk/acatalog/Cargo_Netting.html

IIRC it was less than a tenner for a bespoke sized to fit (just send the measurements - we got another for the upstairs bed too).

Took a couple of hours to put together and I am not desperately practical!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never thought of myself as an "inventor"....
