can anyone recommend a good 12v leisure battery and/or a good place to get one from? mine seems to have given up any hope of holding a charge... any advice would be appreciated!

I bought a 110ah leisure battery from Shropshire Battery Services at camperjam it only cost £65 which I thought was a good price. I can heartily recommend them, they were so helpful, probably one of the most genuine traders I have ever met :D :D

I know that they are doing most shows - they are definately at Vanfest and are considering VWNW at tatton in a few weeks.

When I get home (at work at the moment :( ) I'll post up the contact details. :ok

I take it from your picture avatar that yours is a WESTY?
If so....presumably you will be using the auxillary battery position behind the N/S/F drivers seat? now the reason why I mention this is the limited amount of space in this battery box (with cover) there tends to be a limit of around a 72amp/hour rating (although some report bigger specialized batteries) fitting in this relatively small box.
Firtly this is not a leisure battery but a normal starter battery (thats what Westfalia fitted at the factory) a plain jane lead/acid is best because it can be topped up (lots of newer types are sealed. Quality brand ie; Exide, Fulder, Bosch. 096 is the common size but measure it yourself and go to a specialist battery shop, they are always cheaper and have more choice.

Contact details as promised:

Shropshire battery services - 07752 825658 ask for Ade

Even if Red Westie is correct and a 110ah wont fit in your van they are still worth a call, I'm sure they'll have what you need :ok

Hi! I have an 85Ah battery next to the charger under the rnr. Just had a 110Ah wired in as the good lady is addicted to TV. The 85 fits a treat and still leaves lots of room. The 110 now means there's just room for a Haynes manual and a socket set... Also spoke to Ade at Shropshire Batteries. Tried to beat his price but couldn't. Good bloke to talk to.
