my van (1.9 w/c `85) has recently developed a strange clonk when going over bumps, it seems to come from under the drivers seat area, but could be from nearer the back, it doesnt do it all the time but sounds bad, i have checked all the visually obvious and there are no loose items rolling around, any ideas ? it drives great otherwise

busted spring, drop link bust, various suspension bushes, fuel tank loose, shock absorber mounts, wheel bearing
but could be from nearer the back
Busted spring, trailing arm bush, shock absorber bushes, shock absorber, exhaust.....

lol - sometimes takes that long to find a clonk. I have clonks that only materialise when I have a light load on and still no idea what they are. Half the fun of it

aaah ! so thats a drop link ! the trouble with keeping a vehicle parked on gravel is that it`s a pain (literally) when you want to crawl underneath to try and identify a `drop link` all these technical descriptions, i thought it was a .. `short round bit with threads on the bottom that fastens onto a bit on the chassis and a funny shaped bit beside the wheel ` ! thanks anyway ,now to connect the fridge to gas, that jobs 2 years outstanding !
