Hi,

I am currently converting my 84' T25 1.9DG 4 speed to 1.6JX with its 5 speed box. The diesel is from an 87' T25.

I could make the 4 speed fit the diesel, but I really want to make use of the 5 speed...

Unfortunately the gear stick assembly is totally different and will not fit my pre 86 vanagon without modification.

I have unboltet the "wings" (red X) and I'm preparing to cut along the red line at the top.

I was planning to make som 90 degree angles (blueish) and bolting (black) them to the brackett and car chassis, from the inside

This will require a tiny bit of cutting in the car chassis.... :? Any thoughts on this?

(the height difference between the to types of brackets is not as big as pictured, as the right lever sits on top of another bracket)

Looking for advice!! :ok

Best regards,

Harald

I don't think/quite sure u really need worry bout the rest of the 'box' under the top gear lever selector plate it should all just bolt in straightforward on the old one, the actual floor of the van itself is raised for the diesel van for some reason. The only problems will be at the gearbox end where the vertical alloy rods are differin lengths. :ok
