Big bumper removal

ITs about time I painted the big bumpers and side planks on me 1990 atlantic. Just thought id ask as i`ve had a look and cant see an obvious way of removing either front or rear bumpers.
I gather to remove the side planks you gently pull the bottom of each one and undo one nut which should free them, sounds easy????!!!!
But is it a big job to remove bumpers that havent been touched for twenty years. Any advice please would be most appreciated.
