Possibility of 4 different senders, though I'm fairly sure it should be blue.
GSF oil pressure switches suck.

sorry should have been a bit clearer the black sender works fine but leaks oil,
when i instal either a grey or white sender the dash flashes i.e its not the correct sender.
now just had a thought along baxtors comments, im sure should it should be a blue sender too, though even being a petrol my dials have a glow plug symbol,so would it make sense to say in the past my original dials died someone chucked in some diesel ones that want diesel oil pressure therefore the diesel(and obviously incorectly rated?) black sender???

not all companies follow VW's colour coding system, hence the reason for me not stocking Beru items, as they are all the same colour.
Just because it's black doesn't mean it's right, you need to get a meter out and check if it's normally open or normally closed and what pressure is stamped on it.
All they are, are switches operated by pressure, but some are normall closed (blue) and others are normally open (black, grey, white)

the pressure switch that you describe earths at 0.3 bar for a normal oil light operation, on a 1.9 WBX

Might be of help but If your dash warning display has the Diesel Glow plug LED then it may also have the Diesel DOPs (Buzzer of doom) fitted which is different to the petrol ones and a different part number. The Oil pressure LED is controlled by the dops pcb and not directly by the oil pressure switch as on earlier models. Incorrect switch by the sound of it since it works fine with the old one but why no buzzer of doom with the faulty switch?

hi there, right first yes you will need original bits in dash department as the gauge is calibrated to sender, i dont know why as never had time but i done diesel dash thing and had probs, coincidence? the sender is blue and is in the low pressure gallery. fore 1.9dg and reads quote, 0.25+-0.1 028919081d. i have removed mine and am running a vdo pressure sender and adaptor from brickwerks. my new dg runs 4 bar cold and at 80c 1 and bit ish bar on a 2000 mile engine hope that helps. :ok
