Look in the modified forum - lots on clocks in there including hardwired versions

If you are confident in reading schematics and tracing circuits with a multimeter then my advice would be to have the connector information and POD Circuit for your van and the same information for the replacement pod and the year of the van from which it came.

1. Compare the two schemtics and identify any differences.

2 verify that the new pod tallys with the schematic that you have for it by tracing the pins to the various components.

3. Note any changes necessary. The most likely changes will be that the existing wires to the multi connector will have to be cut and re-assigned to the correct pin number. Post 86 pods will have the DOPs (buzzer of doom) so ask on the forum for the changes regards this if applicable.

4. Test the new pod on a bench before fitting it to the van. Most of the testing is providing 12V and/or Earths to the various pin connectors and checking that everything functions.

Perhaps the set you have are meant for a later van?? I know they were different for early/late models. I have had that problem before.

Just a thought

Theres no cutting of wire involved, theres a clip on connector to hold pins in unclip it and rearrange them. I tried to do this to get van through mot but only got telltails working i used the wiring diagrams from here:

Many thanks Damien, in all the years I have used edge connectors never seen one like the VW one. Looking at it it appears like a one piece moulded design but in fact it allows you to remove the pins and relocate them by simply unclipping the shroud........brilliant! How you spotted that I don't know but once again many thanks............you learn something new every day!
