I have seen a mention of this conversion existing so does anyone know where to get the adaptor plate from (Phil?) and any other gotchas involving this?
I have aT25 1.6D 5 speed at the moment (5th ratio 0.77) and also have a Citroen XUD diesel available.

Thanks guys. Thought I could open up a whole new range of engine availability if this was easy !
Is this the AAZ engine out of the Ibiza? I thought you needed the JX TD 1.6 for the interchange bits?

There are loads of vw diesels around for not alot of money. VW ones fit with quality geniune vw parts. I have seen a few of these famous phil adaptor conversions and they are horrific.

apart from the work involved in mounting the pug motor, are the performances of it and the vw motor(1.9td) similar? bhp/torque/top speed/mpg :?:

pug is more reliable , i havent had chance to drive a 1.9 td vw to directly compare it to a pug

but the 1.9td pug sits somewher above the 1.9 dg petrol and the 2.1 dj petrol for power i would say from driving them

as with any work of this amount weather vw or pug a lot of it amounts to the care are workmanship of the conversions.

i have never had one fail yet ,
with my 2.1td pug motor - 4500 miles through europe last year in a high top kamper with caravan in tow 4 people averaging 32mpg and no problems and about 10 shows this year , again without fault to me is what i need.

i am sure you can do this with a vw engine and im sure people have but its what works for me and is still working without fault for the 4 other vans i have converted.
sitting at 70-80 mph in a t25 for long periods is not alsways a good thing with the vw engine but dosent seem to be a problem with the pug diesel

from factory the pugs seem to rev higher than the vw motors
