My Diesel van won't start.
When I turn the key I get a click from the glovebox but nothing at the start motor.
Battery has 12.8 volts.
It did this a couple of time then started but now I get nothing

Where do I start?

Checked for loose wires and everythings in order?

Hi, I had same prob,
the click from the glove box on mine was fuses blowing,
changed them, checked connectors on batt. and starter solindoid,
give batt a overnight charge and all ok now.
Hope this helps?

Sounds like the starter motor is knackered to me - or at least the wire to the solenoid has come off.

Do you know how to check it Gaz? Feel free to give me a ring if you want a chat - pm me for me number...

I checked the voltage on my van battery and it was 12.6, checked voltage on thin 12v wire to battery and got 12v so removed starter, tested it directly on my car battery and that worked.
So I cleaned up all connections put my car battery on the van refitted everything and now van starts.
So although van is now starting I'm not sure what fixed it.
Going to get a new battery tomorrow as this ones been on since I got the van and then pack some tools for my holidays should I turn out to be the starter.
Cheers for the offer Ringo, I just connected wires randomly until it stopped sparking and started spinning .
Any more problems and I'll be in touch :ok

Glad you got it sorted.

If you carry in the van a 1m length of wire with one end stripped bare and the other end with a female spade connector on it - next time it happens, take the wire off the spade connector on the starter, connect 1m wire, and touch the bare end to the positive terminal. If it starts then you have found the problem....

cheers Ringo, I'll do that.

It what works then what would the problem be and how do I fix it? I'm guessing this wire is coming from the ignition.
