Hi

Gotta side window seal for an insulated sliding window, the seal has split at the join - can anyone suggest an adhesive for rubber - don't think your average superglue / Araldite will cut it, something specific for rubber perhaps...

Perhaps Vulcanizing rubber bike tyre patch stuff..?? Any ideas?

Hi Jake,

The best thing I've tried so far for that kind of job is Sikaflex, but it comes in big tubes at around a tenner. Is available in black. Another thing I've found useful for sealing is a soft butyl rubber cord (available from VW) which stays soft forever and can be removed if needed unlike sikaflex.

Cheers chaps!

Gonna try the Loctite - had thought of the Sikaflex but the 406 states
Ensures uniform fast-fixturing of 'difficult' rubbers and elastomers
.. plus I can get it free delivery from a supplier thru work
