Plans or photos wanted for Danbury Autoroof

Hi All,

I'm trying to get plans or pictures of a working Danbury pop top setup. Ideally the electric autoroof but anything will help!

Currently it's all a bit sad looking & a previous owner has bodged the alloy frame so they could fit 2 gas struts either end. Probably worked once but they've lost their oompff.

So I've tried a Devon strut either end. Sometimes they hold it but usually it needs a bit of 4B1 just in case a butterfly lands on it.

Realise Danburys are a bit thin on the ground but there must be someone out there :?:

Anyway - Wow that spray job looks gorgeous!! Would love more details & photos on roof so I'll PM you

Hi Umgum

Think u have the only one. found it a nightmare to get working. Would be good to have a pic of the front and rear gear.

I have all the cables and leccy bits but there looks like I have a bodged weld to add a second strut.

it was a shock to me when i bought it
i asked the guy selling it why the poptop wouldn`t stay up he said the struts had gone :(
anyway paid him the £850 got it home moved a bit of wood and noticed an up down button
so i pressed it and up went the roof :D

will try and get the top up after and take some pics dont really know what of so will take a random few

Hi All

Really interested in any info about how the electrics and mechanism are arranged in the Danbury - I've been forming a "good idea" for building a Viking canopied, Leisurdrive/Devon/Danbury roofed hybrid poptop.

Bought a respectable Viking on a rolling shell, but would prefer the lower profile looks of the others. It's a winter project but I need to do some research/measuring at Vanfest to see which will accomodate the Viking mechanism...
and before I start drilling holes for hinges.

Now I quite fancy electric operation, using leadscrews and rigid struts instead of gas springs. :ok

Thanks, they give me some idea! I'm not familiar with the Danbury at all, how does the motor raise the roof? Is there a cable drum/tension spring arrangement or something simpler or less obvious?
Getting my ideas together and on the lookout for a roof panel!
(Danbury, Leisuredrive or Devon - don't mind, condition is everything)
How tall is the Danbury roof above the roofskin/gutters? Need to know if I can get the not insubstantial Viking sliding irons and canopy under it...
