Charging System on a T3 California.

Hi,

Just after some help to try and understand the charging system on my 1990 T3 California diesel. I've got under the back seat a black battery charger of some sort, wording is in German and I've translated what I can off it but not much help. Does anyone know if this is a genuine part or if as I suspect it has been fitted afterwards ?
I know I've got the leisure battery under the drivers seat and I've got a new battery on the engine side. What I don't know is if I'm plugged in on a camp site then should both batteries keep charged up ? I've just been away and had it hooked up, was there for three days had the radio on for a while, used the telly a couple of times and fridge was working great but when I came to move it wouldn't start and had to jump it. I don't normally leave it that long when away with out running it but just forgot this time.
Any help from anyone with a late Westy or anyone with any ideas will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Si.

Si have look on the westfalia forum on the brickyard

I don't think the charger does the main battery , so it could have been your lights and radio that have flatten you main battery , there is a quick and easy mod to get around that problem.

I think it should charge the main battery and LB when on hook up.

Get it hooked up and put a voltage tester on both batteries ,or if you can test the charger. :ok
