speedo cable removal

Hey all,

I'm slowly making progress on first stages of upper and lower ball joint replacement. I've removed the Knuckle and all going to plan but can't get the speedo cable out??

I've followed the haynes so far and it just says remove the circlip from cable and pull cable from seal. Haven't done this before but couldn't find a circlip on the cable and just assumed it had gone AWOL. Am i on the right track and just need to give it some forcre or have i made a school boy error and not understood the guide??

Any help grately appreciated!

Hiya  Where the cable pokes through the cap there should be a small clip. Once this is removed you may have to tug the sleeve out of the back of the hub ... although a spray of WD whilst you rejoice in a cup of coffee and it may just 'slip out' , try turning the sleeve at the same time.

Good luck, Ian :ok

Hey Ian,

I think i can see i'm on the side of error  not having any idea of how the speedo works thought the clip would be on the cable but sounds like your saying the clip is on the other side of the hub on the domed cap, is that right??

My own fault for trying a four spanner procedure at 2 spanner level!!

Thanks for the knowledge!

matt.
