I did an MPG test over the weekend just for fun and the result is not bad at all. I covered 604 kms over the weekend with some M way driving, A roads, B roads and of course two full days of SP6. Believe it or not running on BFG M/Ts, I managed 28.9 mpg from my 1.6TD ..........

I don't think that's too bad at all!!

that's pretty good I only got 107 miles out of a tank of lpg !!!! that's just on the site and laning, ran out just after Oswestry; back in the real world I get 75%-80% normal economy running MTs on the run

not at sp6 - but I have been getting 22.6mpg out of my syncro with 3.3 subaru. Thats not bad as an average

Yeah, not bad considering you have 3 times the power of my 1.9DG and it gets 24 on a run........ come on lotto... I want to svx it....

Averaging 19mpg with my 2.9 VR6.

just worked oout the mpg for the weekend not grate 2.1 MV on MT tyres. over the weekend it has come in at 16.71MPG, how dose this sound to everyone ot there? is something wrong? is there something that i can cheak with basic gararge tools any help appreciated

Just did mine, filled up before we left on Friday, and brimmed it up on the way to work yesterday.

1.9 mTdi about 33.5 mpg, with Mud Terrains, and a roofrack plus 2 women and all their makeup,

I did a tank and just under two thirds. That was a 6 hour traffic nightmare on the way up and a leisurely cruz down hill on the way home. I usually do two thirds of what butterball gets if that any good to you.

that's pretty much what I get on MTs on petrol over a long trip; gas I get 14mpg (that's 17.5p per mile), on Colway retreads, BFGs should be better I think, that's with power steering which costs at least 1 mpg. The advanced ignition has improved pick up and driveability on gas, far less prone to stalling on cruxes, but doesn't seem to have done anything to fuel economy, it will take a few more tanks to guage though on standard tyres.

Jakes figures equate to 14p per mile which is what lpg on road tyres costs me. I've no make up to carry though

I got 23 mpg from before leaving to Shrewsbury on the way back, incl. site driving and Monday's laning 5 up (well, two children incl. so say 4 up)
I also got a couple of silly dents, fortunately to an already dented door

You never know who's creeping about at night, adjusting fuellings... I just backed mine off half a turn to get it back to normal and am convinced someone turned it up at Shipston

Perhaps we should first check your calculations before offering advice...

Did you brim it before leaving and after return? Litres & miles? Diff has been changed, wheel and tyre size?

If its got bigger tyre Rolling Circumference than std, then 16.7 might become 17.5 or so, starting to get into a known region for 2.1s (compare to Aidans, he will know), bearing in mind the load and a bit of off-roading

Thought I would add my twopenneth worth as I guess from all these comments I should be a happy bunny, I just did my sums and again on the two runs to syncro events this year I am still getting between 25 and 27 mpg from my 2.1 DJ at 55-60 mph, around town its nearer 20-22 but on the open road suprising as it may seem I am very gentle on the loud pedal!.
My other vehicle is a Jeep Cherokee which has enough torque to drive everywhere at 1500-2000 rpm, this does 18 around town and about 24 on a run needless to say a minor blip on the throttle and this drops to 15 or less!.
I can run the jeep on lpg but it only manages 12-15 for some reason unknown to me.

on a related note...... been trying to do my MPG and either I am struggling to get the tank brimmed or the gauge is reading low..... known problem???

Can't get much more than 3/4 full according to the gauge though the other day I rocked it a bit on the forecourt to try to clear any airlocks and managed to slowly squeeze another 6 litres in, though it was still only about 7/8 full !!! Makes the old mpg calculations garbage for me ....

Possibly the breathers are blocked, sill valves, leaking/sticking or gauge sender starting to fail.. someone else will maybe out a better finger on it

But...

within reason, as long as you brim on a level surface until nozzle auto-cut-off from time to time (& call that a 'brim') If you're not 'gushing it' flat out, should click-off pretty well consistently.
The you can call that brim to brim and work mpg off that.

That is.. squeezing that extra 6 litres in maybe not a brill idea as far as both overflow/leakage or mpg calcs. Tank just needs to be at same level, not full as such, which might be possible if problem no-varying.

NB. Don't throw away your mileometer reading /litres input figures anyway, anything that is 'fuel went into tank' constitutes good data, once a reference level is quantified (whenever it is later)
