HEY ALL,I have a 1986 t25 1.9 petrol, she is in great order,in an out, i have travelled from the north west to bristol with no problems and also from newquay, withy no probloems, yet, on the way back from bristol at the weekend, i was over half way into the journey,an stopped at a service station. an within 2 mins of turning the ignition off, i turned it bk on an nothing, battery seemed flat, i jumped the van, it started fine, an set off on my journey bk, no radio, nothing, then the temp gauge went rite down,an so did the petrol guage, then she started missing an backfiring then cut out again,it did this about another 4-5 times, then the last time it did it, it got me all the way home, and its been fine ever since, starts fine in the mornings an everything, any ideas what the problem could be i would be gratefull, as with 3 kids and a paranoid mrs who thinks we will be stranded is making camping life hell, regards, Barry :run :idea

Is the alternator pumping out enough current?

Our petrol and temp gauge went loopy in Ireland and it turned out the alternator wasn't working and thus the satnav was draining the battery

Thanks shaun, the altornator isnt pumping out enough current, but it is charging the battery, and i have a satnav which is wired to my leasure battery, i have recently changed the alternator, but it was a second hand one, but with it charging it,i thought that that alternator was ok? what do you think?

thanks.Barry
