Hi can any one help ... I have had a gas conversion on my VW Doka 2ltr twin carb but whilst running great on petrol it will not run on gas, it's missing, popping, low on power and basically won't run. The company completing the conversion are a local company in Northamptonshire fully certificated and used to classic conversions but have not done an Aircooled vehicle before ... after six weeks in the garage having being quoted one at most, we have the van back now but not running on LPG ... I know its not really our problem but the garages, just trying to find out info ... please can anyone help ... I'll buy you a virtual beer!

Thanks for the info ... I did my research the company specialise in classic LPG conversions and are local to me so all in all a good choice I thought, Gasure look great and if they were closer I would have gone there. We spent yesterday from 5.30 to 8.00 at the garage with the company which is why we took it away not running on gas as I needed the Doka back for my work ... they have tried two different jetting systems as my Doka has different Carbs, Californian import type apparently ... they are still trying to resolve the problem and we are taking it back .. any other help??

Have they taken the heating probe for the vapouriser unit from the exhaust ?

Ian.

:| Pass ! Like Rob said you should've gone to Gasure (or Elite/Gasure South) we don't have this kind of problem with Steve. Keep taking it back and drop a hint at trading standards if they get asrey

Sorry. Ian.

Thanks anyway Ian ... apart from the length of time and the gas not running the company seem ok so far and should hopefully get the job done as we haven't paid them except for an initial £300 ...

Mmm..
I could have a look at it... but you wont be able to tell them or else they wont honour owt...
"Beam" IIRC do an heater system that uses the engine oil to heat the LPG in liquid form...

Carbs make no difference to the LPG system... they are acting as thottle bodies its all down to what venturi and vaporiser they are using... and really how good they are at understanding the problem... maybe the vaporiser is freezing before enough heat is getting into it...

At a guess the idle bleed isnt high enough and the vaporiser may be oversized... the venturi are poss not small enough too... but intake system restriction would help this.. does it have seperate filters or a "K&N" style system on it?

When I converted an Aircooled I didnt have an exhaust probe, I made a small water circuit to warm the vaporiser, very effective it was too...

Hi there, don't despair, your converter phoned me yesterday, hopefully they are now on the right track and they will be able to complete your install and get it running correctly. :D
