any ideas on that one??
also, when the van is parked facing downhill for the night it takes forever to start next day (will eventually knacker the starter motor), but when i park facing uphill it starts easily!! anyone heard of that one before?? 1.9 diesel.

Dear Mr Chin, I also have a question for you, why would you wish to flatten the battery of your vehicle when it is facing down hill, if the engine was in good condition it should start after a short distance during a Bump start.........and just in case I would park it facing down hill all the time.

As far as the hazards are concerned, it may be a good idea to check for a corroded connection at the Indicator relay.

answer to number one=
its a 1.9 "diesel" which are high compression engines and nigh on impossible to bump start as the gradient outside my house is not steep enough for it. but that still doesnt answer the "nightmare to start when facing downhill overnight" connundrum..

I had the same when i had an air leak to the diesel fuel system. Nightmare to find the leak. I suggest you change the fuel filter first - if its the type with the return on it, they are prone to leaking apparently. That fixed mine!

Good way to prime the pump is to remove the oulet pipe, get someone to turn it over and then put the pipe straight back on when it fires up (it gets messy).
