well ive finally got round to messing with the fridge

ive had a look at the wiki and done a search on here as well but i cant see anything that clearly says "this is how to do it". ive got a 2way electrolux that im trying to get going on gas. its set up in the garden at the mo with a bottle and 12v supplied to it, the ignitor is working!

im assuming (probably wrong) that you have the dial set to 0 and depress it until the pilot lights? 0 has the ignition symbol next to it. im not havin much luck there.
when i depress the dial on any of the other settings (1-2-3) i can smell butane coming out the flu but dont want to ignite it`before i check up on here.

so what am i doin wrong?

Nothing , keep the dail pressed in while pressing the igniter (might have to do it a few times) inside the fridge in the back lower corner there may be a sight glass so you can see its lit keep the dail pressed in for about 20 secs or so after it lit then release slowly .

At first you may have to press the dial in (on 3) and 'pump' it a few times.

fingers crossed that it does something on gas because on 12v its worse than frellin useless

I have been trying this on my fridge as the van is back from having some body work done.
My fridge lits up on gas fine. I can see the flame in the sight window but as soon as I release the pressure on the button it goes out.
I have tried releasing the button slowly and have tried pressing it in for a long period of time before releasing.No joy.
Could I have a blocked jet?As i said fridge will light straight away but will not stay lit without the main control button pressed in.
Gas supply to burners on cooker and to grille above is fine and I have enough gas in the bottle.
Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome.

theres a thermo couple on there mate. the device that keeps the gas valve open once it heats up. if the couple is knackered then the valve doesnt know its lit and it will go out for ever and ever. if you look under the fridge, 99% of the time they are a silver/ white thin wire coming off the back of the valve and into the burner chamber where the site glass is.

ive not inspected mine for model and type but most thermo couples are available from plumbers merchants. if you get one from a camping shop then you will deffo get your leg lifted

if it's not getting cold the coolant may have settled at the bottom over time. Take the fridge out, turn it upside down over night then re-fit it.

It should work better.

hi mate,had exactly same problem last week,got a thermocouple from plummers but the universal was not the right one, got one from http://www.caravan-parts.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and got the right one.still wouldnt stay lit!!!!!!,took the button off and just pressed the brass shaft and bingo,stayed lit after 4 seconds.honest! popped a small bit of card where button slides on shaft and no probs since,mines electrolux too,circa 1987 so must be a bit worn inside.hope this helps..leroi
