Autohomes Kamper (J reg) Roof replacement

Right the time has come to think about a roof replacement for Biffa.

I've done a few searches but nobody seems to have any feedback once any are fitted

The sides are OK (in fact in excellent condition!!) but the roof although not leaking is exceptionally heavy and the black plastic surround is getting grotty with cracks etc and the rubber seals keep falling off and the rear now fails to lock down so is held by a 2tonne capacity ratchet strap onto the gutters.

Can anyone suggest the best way to go either full cap replacement from Autovans or go the whole hog and get a Hi top (any reccommendations??) :ok

I stuck a westy pop-top on my kamper as the roof was beyond repair, bit of a bodge but does for me.

Hi Syncro,

I had my roof replaced by the Auto van guys about 4yrs ago.
The one piece fiberglass roof looks good and is very neat compared to the original fabricated one and it's waterproof!
Get the gas struts replaced at the same time, the roof is very heavy.
The Auto van fitting was neat, but I recall having to reposition/fit spacers to a couple of the struts sligtly to get the gap between the upper and lower panels the same on both sides.

If you like the way the Kamper roof works and you can afford it, get it done. The ventilation through the van with roof up and the upper side panels folded up is unbeatable, just the job in this hot weather.

Cheers
