Three point seat belts in rear

OK - technically these are four point belts. I said I would post up some pics when fitted so.....

We got one of S J Baxter's extra long quality belts - to go round the back of a rearward facing child seat for the little one. Positioned in the LH rear bench seat.

Good news was it was very long and no problem going round the seat and plenty to spare (pity after all my work we turned the seat forward facing a couple of weeks later!! )

Some pics to illustrate.

Before

The old lap belts from above

Middle mounts from below - wanted to grind off from below but too scared - if you don't understand - go out and find where they are on your van and hold a grinder up to them (don't turn it on though!)
Image

I ended up grinding off from above (again - they were NOT coming undone...ever) - with carpet everywhere - this was a bit fire risky - so extinguisher and hose were to hand
Image

Point 2 under wheel arch - we had lap belts already but there was no way this was coming undone - so ground off and replaced with supplied new nut and plate

Panel behind where it all happens

Fourth point where the reel mounts - holes already there, bolts supplied in kit.
Image

This is where it disappears behind the panel - the carpeted bit is the parcel shelf (bed) support
Image

Only buggeration was the third point hole. This shows the indent already there from VW (I have cut away a bit of window surround)
Image

Drilled this out - then offerred up the supplied plate and bolt - and the plate is a bit too big (see following)
Image

So "adjusted" the plate

Third Point finished

And no probs with the bed - just slip it round the side when bed comes down.

Any other questions?

We are gonna have to do this for our little one so the wife can have her seat back, just one question, how did you get the top strengthening plate in behind the bolt hole to bolt the top part in ? if that makes sense.

Thanks Steve H.

Guessing here, but via the rear air vents on the outside?

Yup, as simple as - remove vent grille, you can reach the back of this hole from the outside.

As I described - if you use the indent I did - then you need to cut down the strengthening plate a bit to fit.
