I'd like to be able to carry a passenger on the rear-facing buddy seat shown below. It's currently freestanding so presumably would need to be permanently bolted down somehow, and of course will need a seatbelt. Willing to offer cash or professional computer maintenance to anyone up to it, or can you recommend someone? I'm in SE London. Cheers.

I have a different type of buddy seat - the fold up type.




It's fixed through the base into the floor and through the back with four 10mm bolts into a thick metal plate in the passenger battery compartment like this



I fixed a lapbelt to the existing passenger seat belt mountings like this




because I used the existing mountings the lap belt is only long enough for an average person - a lard@rse would have no chance of buckling it up. I don't believe there is a requirement for seatbelts on rear facing seats however but you'd best check that.

I've since been informed that the seat doesn't have to be bolted down as the belt would be secured to the chassis. Even better. So anyone fancy fitting the belt? Also an additional one to the rear bench.

You must be mad -the seat will moveeven going round a roundabout - let alone in an accident! its only a box for goodness sake, not even a proper seat. I would not want to use it for carrying a passenger at all - Has no back - you are relying on the back of the passenger seat.

no need for the rolling eyes mate! Sometimes meanings get mistook - but it gives the impression of a teenager being caught out!! A true Kevin moment!!

I would get a second opinion on the bolting down thing.

If you have a bus from factory as opposed to a panel van from factory, you will have the seat blet fixings in the rear too....all you need is a 17mm spanner I beleive (could be 19mm - can never remember) and some bolts to fit. The you can do it yourself. Otherwise, to be really safe you are going to need a welder, although some members have said that they have drilled and bolted using a spreader plate without welding and it has passed an MOT.
