Replaced the old and tatty looking beige trim with grey to match the carpet. A right pain in the ass to do and not quite totally finished yet but getting there......

I have to re-stretch the bit just below the high top bed by the sliding door in the last but one photo as it 'slipped' during the night but otherwise I'm a happy bunny

The rather fetching 'Stuart Tartan' quality upholstery is still gracing the van. I am assured by girlies that the curtains are not orange, but in fact a rather opulent 'Terracotta'........although I think they're just red.

So how's your oversized, wrong hand drive dentists waiting room? Got a fish tank for it yet? I've got a few back issues of Reader's Digest I can give you at RTTH to scatter around

the heffalump is way to clinical for a man of your taste , just ordered a cab curtain for it , so i can separate off the waiting room from the surgery

don't ask. Took a LOT longer than I envisaged. 10 days easily.......... Used approx 7 x 4 mtrs of carpet.

The old carpet was stuck to the ceiling panels before they were assembled, but all the panel fixings are between the panels and the fibreglass lid so the old carpet has to be cut and ripped out. The side and back cupboards can be removed once the carpet is removed but the cupboards over the cab area cannot for the same reasons as the ceiling panels. (looks like the fibreglass top was fixed after everthing else was built ). Once the carpet is removed the areas need sweeping with a stiff brush to removed the old dry adhesive; a dust mask is a good idea.

The new carpet has to be cut in also and you have to really take your time to avoid making a pig's ear of it and having to start afresh. Best to start with a fairly simple and small piece. You'll need plenty of stanley knife blades. The back end of the high top is a right laugh (not). Struggling with glue, carpet and knife with one headtorch and another torch in your mouth.

I painted the panels with B&Q Carpet and Tile adhesive (about £9 a tub; I used two tubs), waited for it to dry 'tacky' and then pressed the new carpet to it. This adhesive is not strong enough to hold the carpet in place where it needs stretching into place - in those areas you'd need a contact adhesive such as Evo-Stik.

It can be a bit de-moralising as you seem to work your nuts off for no visible result as it doesn't seem to all come together till the last minute.

Refitting doors and catches takes a fair bit of time too.........

Cracking Job Bren , glad you posted pics as now I can see how to take it off , I wasn't sure if there were screws that held the ply side panels in the hightop , how are they fixed in place ? Could they be removed and re-carpeted then fixed ?

Looks really good , I hate my dirty brown stained carpeting , sod the purists , I ain't selling

No, not without taking the top off. Unless you want to risk forcing them but I wouldn't recommend it...........
