Vans been laid up for a couple of weeks with it's rear up in the air while the new engine goes in.
After replacing the thrust bearing, input shaft oil seal, clutch assembly, slave cylinder.
first gear is kinda sticky to get out of gear.

I will be replacing the gearbox oil shortly any how.
the box has been losing oil as the inside of the bell housing was covered in oil.

any thoughts?

My thoughts are you din't disconnect the gear linkage, and you've either bent something or moved something.
i would say that the ball and socket on the right hand side of the gearbox has either been pushed too far into mesh, or they have popped out.
Undo the 2x 13mm headed nuts and bolts, slacken, then push up with thumb pressure while tightening the nuts and bolts back up, that should sort it, if not you bent something.

but an oil change if you don't know the state of it is a sensible thing, my top tip for new owners, fluids and a service eh.
4 or 5 speed Kev ?

Yes I did forget
OK I can see where simon is going.. I have looked at the linkage and I can see the ball is out of the socket when in gear, rod looks good and straight

whew!

thanks Aiden, Having to borrow a 17mm socket key to remove the drain and filler.. it's a four speed

As Simon suggested the bush mounting has been pushed downward, undid the bolts and pushed the mount back.

All gears smooth again... many thanks Simon Baxter.
