Busstopover - Nightmare!

Hi Folks

Had a great time at Bus Stop Over but when we left and pulled out of the site there was a big cloud of blue smoke (just ask the splittie driver behind me), and a loss of power by about 30%. We limped for about 40 miles and then decided to phone the breakdown insurance to get us home.

The van still starts and seems to run fine apart from the smoke when I floor it, which I have to do as I dont have any power.

Ive really had enough at the moment and we still have Camper Jam to attend. Looks like we wont be going :(

Any ideas what it might be? and how I could get it tested?

I thought that it could be a piston ring or something to do with the valve guides, but I am not sure how this can be identified. Maybe a compression test?

So my questions are:

Any ideas what it could be?
and if so, how can I get it tested?
Is it fixable?
And where in Wales could do it? - I could limp somewhere but not to far. I think Gasure is just too far

Thanks everyone and im still hoping that I can get to Camper Jam

Paul

is it using oil ?
I'd go for a stuck / bent valve or broken ring
whip the plugs out one will be gunked up

Hi TOnion

I think I spoke to you at BSO

Well it leaks oil so I dont know if it uses it as im allways chucking it in!

Ill have a look tonight but this sort of works are probably too much for my doing. The nearest place I can find is Cardiff Classic VW's (never eard of em!)

Cheers
