Noticed my van running a bit warmer than normal,so checked the water to find oil in it?.Have droped the engine oil, all looks nornal ,oil filter is also ok,no sign of water in oil.The engine is a 1y diesel 1.9.Has enybody heard of the ali oil coolers spliting, dumping the oil into the water cooling system.Or am i looking at the head gasket job(hope not).

Cheers gaz

Head gasket symtons can be misfiring, pressure in cooling system fluids mix up either way. You won't be able to see anything wrong with a leaking oil cooler.

My DJ oil cooler was always leaking and it turned out that one of the inlet/outlet spigots was cracked round the brazing ... these are something to check if you have a leak somewhere.

Ian.

have fitted new oil cooler from gsf, flushed out the coolent system using a little washing up liquid to disolve the oil
after four flushes the water is now clear
took the van out for a run all seems well, and the van seems to be running cooler than ever :)

cheers gaz
