fuel pump adventure ..

well that's a wrap for tonight. i replaced the fuel filter, fuel poured out of it one side and not the other. i was surprised at how easy it came off, one side towards the front of the van there's a worm drive hose clip, the other side is a clip that has a few mm ridge to put a small screwdriver in i guess to loose the tension to slide the hose off the fuel filter. however, i could just twist it out easily. from the front, that hose clip is old and had to spray it, and shocked it loose but it's brittle and really needs replacing, however i pushed the fuel filter back in and tightened it a bit. to be honest i could just slip the filter out each side and slip the new one in without it leaking i would say. does that sound right to you?
secondly, i took the old pump off. i tried testing it for pressure, i don't think there's enough pressure there. and testing it mechanically, it didn't pump any fuel through the pipe. i hope the pipe is not blocked, there was some dribbles of fuel coming through. the fuel filter was definitely blocked!
*fuel pump question.
anyway, do you guys grease the bottom part of the fuel pump that contains the pushrod and the gasket seals before you replace the fuel pump?
