My van has sprung an oil leak, please see picture attached. It only drips when the engine is running and I have checked the oil that is dripping and it smells like engine oil, not gearbox.

I suspect the crankshaft oil seal has gone any opinions would be much appreciated (this is a recon engine fitted 2 years ago).

If it is the crankshaft oil seal does the engine need to come out and is it a difficult job (it would have to be done on the front drive)? Can it be replaced by dropping the gearbox?

Alternatively what would be a reasonable cost to have it done by a garage ?

Dont know if it is leaking form there but we have just replaced the cracnk shaft oil seal and you have to take the engine out to do this as there is no room to slide the crank shaft out without hitting the back of the van.

Flywheel oil seal...
Either engine or gearbox out... I would say gearbox out, as its less to disconect/reconnect and no cooling system to bleed......

Going to presume a 1.9 wbx??
