Sliding Window

Hello, I have searched the forum and although there was a similar question I found no answer.
The sliding window on my 1981 is all gunged up. Is there any way to remove the sliding window glass, just the pain that slides and clean the felt?
I do hope someone can advise
Many thanks

Bex

Coincidentally I have been looking at mine to see if it can. Unfortunately I don't think they come out.....at least not while it's fitted in the van at any rate. Hopefully someone will come along and prove me wrong.

Unfortunately guys the window has to come out of the van.

I've just dismantled mine as it's off to the powder coaters since it's out of the van.
At each end there is a little metal block sitting in the window channel or behind it with 4 screws this keeps the frame intact.
The centre bar is held in with a self tapper top and bottom.

Dismantling its easy but it's a window out job, unless anyone has managed it in situ.

Cheers

I had that problem - don't think previous owners had ever opened it, and it was so mossy I thought I had a window box.

I stuck the pressure washer lance right up close to the outside channel to blast it out (thinking that if it was gunged up it would not leak through), then squirted washing up liquid along inner and outer felt runners.
Finally, one person inside and outside with rubber gloves on, push together and it eventually opened.
