So the 30 peices of silver have been spent and i now have a water cooled Diesel 1.6 Turbo . Its only got 78000 so barley run in . But what spares should i carry for that long trip to the westcoast . I used to have a 1.6Ct( Aircooled dog of van ) and the best advice i ever got was take a spare engine...
What do i need to watch out for ? whats this about antifreeze and coroded bolts
Thanks
Dean

AA/RAC Membership card.
For engine spares:
I carry only an alternator belt and a spare rectifier pack.
You could throw in a spare fuel filter, a metre of the rubber/cotton fuel return pipe and a set of injector pipes if you were so inclined.

At that mileage if the cambelt&tensioner has not been changed it would be wise to have it done.

Fuel return hose, the fuel return bung that goes on the last injector (always seem to go frequently dripping diesel everywhere), various size crimps to mend electrical gremmlins, ancilary belt, oil, jump leads.
And if your me you would carry a spare alternator, starter motor and turbo.
Obviously a full tool kit.
Seems a lot but over the years its just crept in....
