Cripes - a new winder mechanism for a T25 is £117!!! (Just Kampers anyway). How the heck can it possibly be worth that???? Heck, I'll redesign it for that price, its not exactly rocket science....

Reason I mention it is cos I was trying to fit an electric window kit today that fits on to the original handle and even after re moving my mechanism and regreasing, it takes a lot of hand effort to wind it back up. Glass not binding in the channels either. Make more sense to connect the drive directly to the main up and down channel than waste energy turning the handle which is lets face it, further away along the mechnism.

Or better still, adapt one from a completely different vehicle, loads on ebay WITH motors too that are a fraction of a new one for a T25. All I want is for the thing to go up and down. Anyone else adapted one to fit??

Find the best one for the job and do some kits then....

I bought a generic kit of the bay for about 30 yoyos.
It also mounts on the manual winder but does away with the handle.
It does the job nicely.

Yeah, but doesnt help if the winder mech is fubarred....

Certainly worth looking into a kit to do the lifting.....

Hmm, well after a thorough re-greasing of the old winder mechanism the new electric winder mechanism seem fine, albeit slower going up but I guess thats to be expected with such a large pane of glass. Well, I say 'new' winder mechanism but its actually a totally unused 1976 Autoglide kit (made by Polco?) complete with retro pic in the box reminiscent of a Lucas family (if you can kinda imagine that) grinning back at me as they drive their Austin Maxi to somewhere nice - like Watford. Pretty straightforward and fortunately one of the adaptors was a perfect fit (presumably meant for the VW Beetle)

To be honest theres not a huge gain on drivers side but the times I've wanted to wind the passenger window up or down and its been out of reach....joy.
