As above looking for somoen that con compitantly convert my van to a fuel efficient deisel, i'm guessing the 1.9tdi is one of the best and easiest to convert to?

I got a quote a few years ago but have since lost that contact from my private messages.

I want the complete job doing so i deliver my van and its all done, don't wanna be searching for engines/donor cars etc myself.

also I'm a little unsure if the 1.9 4 speed box i have will have tall enough ratio's to make effective use of a deisel. as i want max mpg (speed is less important) but could still do with being abnle to cruise at 70-75 on the motorways.

I have a lpg conversion already b4 thats suggested but i find it bit of a pain in the bum and could do with the storage space etc in the van.

Obvioously if I get this done I have a 1.9 engine and lpg conversion to px/sell.

Cheaper the conversion the better. Any advise welcome, thank you.

TDi Isnt the "easiest" and normally need s a gearbox rebuild and re gear too... neither comes cheap...
1.9 TD (AAZ) is easier route if you can find a nice AAZ.... and maybe wouldnt need a gearbox swap...

Trouble is you want everything .. a TDi and cheap... I am afraid they dont go together... IIRC last time anyone said "how much" it was anywhere from 3.5k to 5k..... that buys an awfull lot of difference in petrol and even more LPG...

some time ago a guy on here said " sod that, a bloke down the road will do it for 1k"....... he got an engine put in... but it never ran....... wonder what happened to that.....

As said.. have a word with Syncronutz and maybe brickworks as he has done some AAZ/TDi conversions (not sure if he still does them though)

SORRY I WASN'T VERY CLEAR, AN AAZ SWAP IS WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR, DON'T WANT TO SWAP OR REBUILD BOX.

LOS OF STORAGE, CAN'T GET LPG EVERYWHERE AND CAN'T GUARANTEE WILL FIND A GARAGE WITH IT WHEN RUN OUT. LAST YEAR WAS A PAIN DRIVING ROUND CORNWALL AS NIOT MANY EASILY ACCESSIBLE GARAGES HAVE IT, THIS YEARS I WILL TAKE A LPG GARAGE MAP!

DON'T LIKE TO MESS PEOPLE ABOUT UNTIL i KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I WANT AND HAVE A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF THE MONEY IT WOULD COST TO DO THE JOB, AS IT STANDS I MAY HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO BELL HIM, HOPE HE WON'T MIND.

OK... AAZ (TD) and TDi are different things...

What size LPG tank do you have? I had a 93L (76L @80%) tank specially made when I converted the velle... I reckon in the 7 years it was on there I put in maybe 30 quid a year of petrol... yes you do need to have an idea of where lpg is available and "sniff" it out...

Best find a good donor car/engineand give him a bell then...

Syncronutz wont mind you calling... its the only way you will know what they would charge....

I'm sure Russell will agree with me here also as we have had a chat about it in the past.
We have both experienced "cheap" conversions, and, we usually end up putting them right at some point.
yes, they are cheap, that's it.
yes, they are in the hole and working but on the whole, they are not pretty.
As the old addage says, you pays your money, you takes your choice.
Commical wiring, pi$$ poor welding and general shabbiness are what you can expect from the evidence I have seen.

But, it all depends on your van, if it's a "pooh", no point spending £££ on a van that won't sustain the investment, if you have a nice syncro or Westy or something that's worth a bit then it's a worthwhile job.

I have had vans booked in for engine conversion before and I have sent them packing as the vans simply weren't worth spending the money on.
It doesn't look good from the workshops point of view to be seen to be taking good money off someone for doing a engine conversion on something that should be in the scrap yard, in this case, a rough and ready sub £1000 maybe what you can afford and maybe befitting of the workmanship.

I would just go for a 2.1 wasserboxer n keep the lpg you will get a some more grunt and roughly the same running cost in pence per mile on lpg
It would take a while(forever) to recoup the cost of a tdi conversion

and as Mr Baxter says if you want a good conversion it will cost
Whoever did the one in my van before i bought it dident do a neat job and im still tidying it up but luckily its done just over 45.000 without any probs so far (so belt change time)!
