en en engine head gasket

i have a 1982 t25 camper with high top it has a 1.8 manual petrol / lpg engine in it but the head gasket has gone it has an en code on it

is this a standerd engine for this van as im told it is also fitted to a mk1 golf clippre and scirocco is it best to do the head or repace the engine any help would be great as im used to air cooled bugs

take a picture of your engine bay , This will help folk tell you what engine you have
you say it's 1.8 ? if so then its not the standard T25 engine but could be a standard VW straight 4 petrol engine (golf/passatt ect.) fitted via a diesel bell housing.

Aye, it sounds like a VW14 series engine, it certainly didn't leave Hannover with that lump in it.

this is the van i have a bit of work to do on it but it has a bit of mot left and i am going to paint it kawasaki green and keep the roof white and put some slk200 merk wheels on it

Mmm.. is that Mocki's bruvs old van???
1.8 "golf" engine... have a look on the block for the engine number, this will tell you what engine it is and help identify what head gasket it requires...
Oh, can you fill out your profile with a town... just so we know what part of the country you are in... There may be a member local to you that can help...

could Martins old bus ,if it is then its had some paint , iirc Martins bus did have the early metal rear air vents and it was rellow

and was 1.8 golfy type engined

it has been yellow at some time in its life i bought it from janski of vzi we are in the same vw club , bugnutz i will pick it up the week after deva hope to have it all sorted for vw north west as i help out at the show so i will sleep over in the van so i can get up eary to open the gates
