Hello All,

Can anyone offer me any advice. Im thinking of buy a VW T25.

Theres a rust patch on a side window - 1st picture. Any idea of cost to repair this? I.e. not to replace the panel. but rather sandblast & fill.

There is a fair amount of rust/rot around the 'gutters' (where roof meets body work) - 2nd/3rd picture. I imagine this is expensive to repair fully? Is there a good trick to containing this problem and/or smarten it up? I'm not sure how serious the issue is.

Also the foot well is rusted all the way through. Is there an easy/chepa way you can weld a plate on the top of this as a make shift solution?

HI the footwell is easy to repair but the gutter and window look serious the van would have to be cheap as will cost a lot to repair properly if you cant weld or do the repairs yourself

gutter roof rot is terminal in my opinion
walk away unless the van is a couple of hundred quid to buy
i bet the hole under the fibreglass is quite big.



buy it to use but dont buy to do up , never be worth it

Seens gutter rot less bad than that from the outside and totally shot on the inside i would walk away from it unless its free then use it for bits no piont spendin any money on it !

It looks to me like the guttering has rotted away from underneath a fibreglass hightop. In this case and providing it isnt too far gone then a half decent job could be achieved with a thourough dig out and wire brushing, some clever tinwork and MIG'ing and several large tins of P40 followed by some cosmetic patience with P38. The two limiting factors on this course of action are: 1/ What will this mean in terms of interior damage i.e. intrusion into living space and cupboards etc. 2/ How is the structural integrity affected. The foot well rust if contained to the foot well is easy peasy but the sort of corrosion seen up top is a clue for a Friday afternoon last minute before knocking off time in the finishing shop or maybe a few years parked on the sea front. This is not a vehicle to leave in the hands of paid help but might be do-able if it is dirt cheap you are not pushed for time and a bit handy at repairing/bodging. A return to as new by the proffesionals would be very expensive and pointless. I am brave and sometimes a little stoopid but I don't think I would entertain it
