hello clubbers!
have started to convert my panel van, using 3.6mm plywood to panel the inside to the van. we have done the sliding door and floor, both have been fine and pleased with the outcome. now the problem we are facing now getting a nice finish on the corners, where the wall meets the ceiling. it would be good if the ply was a wee bit thinner to created a easy flowing corner, but its not!!! can anyone sergest some info on how to get a clean finish??????? going to carpet the inside so will be able to hide rubbish areas, are you able to stick the carpet linning to bare metal??? any help would be loved!!!!!!!! loved big time!!!

Carpet glues to metal no problem.

It does, but getting the bugger back off again is not so easy. I had big plans to refurb mine and eagerly ripped everything out, several months later and I'm just hoping to bodge any old thing back in to have a van for the summer (if I haven't just missed the summer that is)

so your saying that once you have stuck the carpet to metal its hard to get off, and then hard to refit because of the past carpet leaving something behind or lack of funds and time????

thinking of leaving the corner (roof and wall) to be covered with just carpet, so there will be a small part not plyed and insulated(as nowhere to put it). any thoughts, bad/good?????

In my last conversion (Bedford CF) I cut ply panels which more or less fitted the interior but were retained with discrete fixings. I then carpetted them taking the carpet round the edges and fited them after that but overlapping the roof lining. I dealt with the window apertures the same way and instead of having curtains fitted slimline roller blinds at the top behind the carpetted ply. These could be pulled down in seconds thus ensuring privacy and avoiding all that faffing about with curtains. Of course traditionalists would insist on curtains. In fact when we refufbished out Transporte Hid=gh top SWMBO insisted we retained the curtains....

Yes, I removed the original carpet/lining stuff which was glued straight to metal in places and, whatever adhesive they used, it was well stuck in some places but coming away in others. It has left hardened glue stuck to the metal which I'm going to have to sand (I think) to remove. Not really a problem if you're going to cover it up again but I'm thinking of leaving mine as painted metal. Also lack of funds, time and being arsed with it are contributing factors.
