Hi Guys

I'm new on here and wander if any of you could offer some advise?

I'm on the hunt for a T25 and am currently swayed to towards the AutoHomes Komet and AutoSleeper Trident Hightop conversions. In my search I've discovered that the AutoSleepers tend to have 5 speed gears boxes.

Therefore my question is does the 5 speed really offer any significant advantage over the 4 speed in terms of fuel econemy and performance? Or are the top and bottom ratios similar?

Apologies if this question seems vague and many thanks in advance for any help

depends on engine, on a petrol not much in it, on a diesel a five speed may be preferred, but not essential, gearing is pretty much the same, lower first on a five speed and code of box more important than number of gears as lots of choice and wrong box on wrong engine can be really rubbish. Four speed is probably cheaper to run long term as cheaper to fix generally when they go wrong, what ever you buy treat it to a gearbox oil change when you get it.
You don't want to notice the gearbox really, if it draws your attention to it then it's probably tired/badly rebuilt/running very old oil and not much of it.
