im in desperate need a new or recon 1.9 watercooled engine for my 25. can anyone point me in the right direction. thanks.

Hiya, welcome to the Club 
There's no such thing as a 'new' engine, best you can get is a recognised reconditioned unit from a company like Elite (in Essex IIRC) costing ~£1000, otherwise it's a gamble on a hopefully known good s/h motor from a club member breaker like Syncrospares, Mercdoctor, Billy numbers or Mick 'nw_vw' costing whatever they wish to charge.
