kinked coolant pipe??

i have a 1.6 diesel engine i am currently having overheating problems not due to the radiator as i previously(sp) thought
Coming off the water pump there are three pipes i think they are two returns and the largest diameter pipe being the outlet?

As the large one comes out of the pump housing the pipe is fouling on the engine mount and causing it to kink?
Has anyone else had this problem or got round it another way.

Ianyway going back to the overheating i think its is causing a restriction not allowing the radiator to get its amount of coolant
so its not getting hot i have belled the system from on top of the radiator througha bleed nipple and no air is coming out.

when i have left the van at idle for x amount of time he rad isnt getting hot, but after a 5mile drive the rad is warm to touch

Any ideas or help appriciated thank you

Overheating? as in gauge going all the way to the right and boiling water? or gauge staying in the middle and water being pushed out of the top up tank?

Items to try, new pressure cap (gen VW pref as some aftermarket ones are rubbish)
Is the "hot" waterpipe going to the rad really hot? and the other cool?

the needle is going right over for the light to come on buyt the rad is still cold not forcing water out yet though,

The return pipe is a lot cooler to touch than the others??

Any idea how old the waterpump is? could be that the impellor has corroded away/fell apart... could be blockage somewhere... has it just suddenly started doing it or developed the problem over time?

I'd be starting with a flush out of the system and fitting a new thermostat (as thats the only thing that should be restricting flow until it warms up)
I dont know if you can see into the waterpump with the hoses off to see if there is anything amiss..

the water pump is relatively new but the engine has only been driven for the past week or so, as its been off the road for ages nigh on two years.

I have removed the thermo stat but still the problem remains.

Its a hard one to think of and get round really i have tried bleeding, changing the coolant but i havent tried a specific flush through treatment maybe thats my next step???
