I have a 1.6 td fitted to my t25 it is from a golf but has jx inlet and exhaust manifolds and turbo. I have a 1.9 aaz engine i want to fit can someone please confirm what inlet manifold to use as looking at the net people say either. The reason is the inlet ports are a different shape to the JX but to use the aaz manifold the turbo pipe connector is on top where it needs to be on the side. This would foul the air filter and special pipes would beneeded. If i use the jx inlet manifold what gasket would i use?
Also is it acceptable to use the ribbed drive belt or do you need to swap the pulleys etc over to the old v style?

JX manifold can be bodged to fit but i never would. JX belt setup will greatly reduce chances of the famous AAZ bottom pulley problem.

JX manifolds are very close if you match port them, it's not ideal but it does work.
I have some JX style AAZ inlet manifolds at the foundry at the moment, a back burner job, won't be cheap but will work out of the box.

I wasn't happy with bodging the jx inlet with my skills so I fitted the aaz inlet.

Had to pay around £50 for the silicon pipe to go to the turbo.

And yes, the standard air filter didn't fit so I bought a huge k&n filter to do the job. Fortunately it only cost £11 due to halfords messing up. It could have cost £70 or more apparently.

How much are your manifolds Simon? What do other people do as everywhere you look there is aaz t25.
I really wanted to keep the standard hoses and airfilter, but where would you get the correct shape silicon type?
