SP3 buggered my machine....have avoided installing it on other xp set-ups!

Please make a backup before you stick SP3 on.SPs are impossible to properly uninstall.
I SysAdmin a 600 seat Windows shop and usually find that a fresh build of OS+SPs+patches, then start loading apps, works 100%, so much better than retrofitting a SP to an already highly customised install.
I'm just about to Bootcamp my Macbook with XP SP3 specifically for Memory Maps. I'll watch this thread with interest.

I've installed sp3 on about a dozen machines without a single problem!

Big issues with SP3 here.
it hated everything on my old PC, had to format

Sp3 installed - no problem with either memory map version 4 or version 5

you REALLY wanna try again and put it on also there is an specific windows update you need if your not going SP3 then download and install KB958644

This worked fine with Memory Map v4. I installed XP with SP3 slipstreamed into the install media. Then Microsoft Update 'd everything, then installed MMv4.

my eeepc came with sp3 pre installed
runs mm os5.5 no probs......
