im trying to take off rear screws to put my new alloys on (and therefore longer studs) how do i take the fixed screws out? im in a hurry at the min so any quick replies will be appreciated!! cheers

you will have to remove the castellated nut pull the hub off.and either press or knock the studs out.and press or knock the new ones in..

As he says... but what you need to do is undo the big nut before jacking up and taking wheel off.. as you need a big socket bar and someone pressing on the brake pedal if the hand brake wont hold it... its done up bloomin tight.... to do it up you need to do the same... bloomin tight.... 357ftlbs IIRC

so not a job i can do outside the house at half time!! CRAP!!! wat do you mean press new ones in? so ill have to get longer rear studs then? i thought i could replace the rear ones with long screws?

the rear bolts are splined below the flat head.the inside of the holes in the hub are also splined.you can get them from baxter.

aye i was lookin at these, do they replace the whole bolt?

eh? now your confusing me.these are exactly the same as you now have on your van.except they are longer..

thats wats confusing me.... on the rears they have to screw bit stickin out that u put nuts on. do those bits act like screws? or replace the whole thing?

they are called studs not screws as in the photos
studs to screw your nuts on

Not wishing to sound patronising but, as you haven't done this before, take it to a local garage. The old studs have to be knocked out before the new ones can be fitted and if you just start wacking them with a lump hammer it might lead you down a path you wished you never took.

Yes you were begining to frighten me too! There are certain areas in DIY vehicle Mechpanicks where the keen and willing but uninitiated can go badly wrong and you just stumbled on one. Others include brakes, steering, fuel (petrol) lines and of course seat belts.
Mind you even paid mechanics can be caught getting the wrong end of the stick and it will be the customer who pays at both ends of the deal.
