Ex Michael Ghia Crewcab "syncro"

Hi,
Hope somebody can shed some light on this one for me.
I've been offered a crewcab which was originally a 2wd vehicle but converted by Michael Ghia to 4wd.
It has a 4 door conversion, and tristar windows in the back, but I'm more concerned about the mechanicals.
I'm not for one minute doubting Michael's abilities, as I've seen some of his work on Beetles.
By the way its for sale for around £4.5K, and appears to be really solid.
Thanks,
Paul

I've not seen this van, if your are confident of the mechanics then my only concern would be with insurance. How would they react to the 'Has it been modified?' question? Maybe worth giving them a call as a trail run.

Good point - thanks, maybe better to stick with a factory "built" van

I think you will find that Mike Ghia's vehicles are better maintained than most. There was more talk of that vehicle on the Brickyard, and as the syncro is mainly a bolt on conversion I cannot see it presenting any problems.
Here is one of his other projects, which I have seen and is of a very high standard, and to a level of thought and detail that few are capable of.

Thanks for the link.
The very same crewcab is shown on page 1 towing the trailer - only it's not white now.
I may go take a look.
I've seen Mike Ghia's oval beetle and that is incredibly well engineered.

I own up
It's mine!
There are more photos of it in my 'Garage' by clicking this link

The crewie is solid and I have many photos of the rebuild work in progress. Insurance is easy enough. Its currently with Adrian Flux and doesn't cost the earth on an agreed value classic policy.
As stated above - Mike's work is of a high standard. I have no concerns after using the truck for over 3 years now with no issues. Regular servicing has left me with minor issues such as starter/alternator and silly wear and tear parts failing rather than the Syncro mechanicals themselves.
I'm selling for genuine reasons (it's not being used, I want to Syncro-nize our Westy and cut down our fleet of 8 vehicles) and with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. We have had some great times with it and the memories are priceless.
Feel free to give me a call and voice any concerns about it. I am only too glad to help.
