hi. first post so forgive me if this is obvious. i have a red westfalia camper 1986 and would like to get some touch up paint. i have found the code - L36Q which does not accord with the codes on the wiki here or lots of other places on the net. I have found out that this is a 1975 vw red but how does that square with the Marsala red that it seems most vans of 1986 were made? is it a german code? Any info would be gratefully received.

The following list of paint codes from Brick-Yard is very comprehensive:-
http://brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpecific ... colour.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It appears that your van has been resprayed in a non standard VW paint colour. L = Laquer, 36Q = ??? The code is a VW paint so you may be able to find out what colour it relates to from a VW commercial dealership.

The colour comes up on this site:-
http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/co ... n_audi.htm as being a VW/Audi colour (About 2/3 of the way down... Somewhere!).
Not much more info about it though...

thanks Camperfan - i found that one too which led me to the 1975 date - surely i cant have a 1975 T25! i will take a visit to a vw dealership as i understand that they can get the colour from the chassis number.

It's 1975 onwards. The next column doesn't have an end date in it which means it is still being used.
May be lucky and get some!

Don't know how good it will be but Halfords can mix from a paint code. Might be worth a try.
