replacing door handles

I noticed my sliding door handle is about to split " and cab door handles are looking a bit scruffy.

I don't really want the fuss a key for the doors and another for the ignition. (yep, I know that's a little lazy)

Definetly going to get some new handles as my birthday is approaching and I have dropped the necessary hints - but what I want to know is will it be possible to take out the new locking mechanism and key barrel and just change the actual handles.

Also what are the handles made from plastic or metal.

appreciate any comments

darren :ok

Cast ally and yes you could swap the barrels but.....you will be better off re-tumbling the NEW barrel so everything is nice and tight, this also prevents next doors 5 year old getting in your van with his Fisher Price keys from his plastic push along car.
Any where near Nottingham? I've got some tumblers...

Or post it to me with a spare key (from your van) call it a birthday present.
