Hi, please could anyone advise where i could find wiring diagrams for the VW T25, 1985 1.9L? thanks

Hi thanks for the info, the diagrams do not seem to be for my van.
Only got 12 fuses and the colour coding is different.

then you need a haynes. for the early van

i think its the ignition barrel, ive got 12v on the pink,there is also a pink and black, a black and yellow and 2 blacks together, does anyone know which ones to short, i shorted the pink and pink/black together and it was trying to turn over.

Do the 2 black need to be shorted or yw/blk pls. thanks

Red - Feed from Battery
Red with Black stripe - From Ignition to Starter Solenoid.
Black with Yellow stripe - From Ignition to Light Switch.
2 Blacks Together - One runs from Ignition Switch to Dashboard Power and the other is to the Fuse Box and Ignition System

YIPPEEE, thanks, i shorted the pink and two blacks and then touched the pink/blk to pink and bingo. Thanks everso for all your help, i just need to find an ignition barrel now i think, any ideas?? Some 8amp fuses and a new fuse holder as the wipers/heater is all burth at the back, still works but also need a 30amp/12v sw to sit ontop of fuse box as it only works when i short the relay.

The ignition switch can be bought seperatly from the barrel.
There's a link to one somewhere on the forum, just can't remember where at mo...

What relay are you shorting to get what working..? Just being nosey of course..!

Is it just the spade connections burnt or the actual fuse box? The spade connectors can be cut off from the cable and new ones crimped in place if it is these that have burned/melted.

It's the fuse holder which has melted onto the spade, there is still continuity but doesn't work?? I moved it onto the next terminal(removing the indicators and it works ok)

The relay is 12v 40A which works the wipers and also the heater, i took off the lid and closed the sw, this in turn works the heater (r/blk) and wiper (2blk/white). This also works without the engine on.

I think there might be something still a miss but just chuffed the van turns over now.

The black and yellow cable into the lights had melted and recripmed this last night.

Getting there slowly

Your relay should be switched by the black with yellow stripe wire from the ignition I mentioned earlier. Power to this relay comes from behind fuse No. 8 on the lower end on the fusebox (where power is fed into the fuses) and will be a red wire.
The brown wire from the relay runs to the earth crown behind the fusebox.
The yellow and black wire from the relay to fuse No. 10 where it changes into the colours you mention to run wipers/heater etc.

Sounds like a fuse has been partly making contact and arcing slightly. This has created heat in that area and melted the fuse box plastic! Oops!

Try an inline fuse as a temp fix until you get another fusebox.
