spark plug blow out

Hello all,

Haven't been on in yonks due to work and study pressures. Started van this morning; big bang then major noise; turned off. Couldn't check it cos I live in the country and the trains are scarce to say the least. Reminded me when I drove into Oviedo (Asturias, where F.Alonso comes from) in a Beetle once and pop; the same sound and turned out that the spark plug blew out. I hadn't tightened it properly (I'm always afraid to) on the last service. Put it back in and away I went. Came home tonight and checked and lo and behold a dispatched sparker. A smug grin grew across my face as I replaced it but to my horror ot wouldnt tighten and worse, I could move it in and out easily.

Haven't had a chance to inspect properly but this is looking like a cracked cylinder head and less likely a helicoil job. If either, what are the requirements etc.

Many thanks,

Tony
